How We Review Content at CyberAware UK

Last reviewed: August 2026 · Last updated: August 2026

We publish daily UK scam alerts, dark web intelligence and practical safety guides. Every article is checked for accuracy, clarity and usefulness before it goes live, and updated when threats change.

Our Review Process

  1. Drafting — Articles are written by our security team, drawing on live alerts, vendor advisories and open-source intelligence.
  2. Fact-checking — Claims, statistics and links are verified against primary sources (e.g., vendor patches, official advisories, law-enforcement guidance).
  3. Plain-English edit — We rewrite technical details into clear steps a non-expert can follow.
  4. Review & sign-off — A second reviewer checks logic, sources and UK-specific advice (reporting routes, bank processes).
  5. Publish & monitor — After publishing, we monitor for new information and update the post if the threat evolves.

How We Handle Updates & Corrections

Updates: When new details emerge (e.g., new phishing domains, patched vulnerabilities), we update the article and note the change.

Corrections: If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and add a short "Correction" note at the top or bottom of the post.

Each article shows "Last reviewed" and "Last updated" dates so you can see how current it is.

Sources We Use

  • Vendor security advisories and patch notes
  • Official UK guidance (e.g., Action Fraud, NCSC)
  • Reputable threat intel feeds and dark web monitoring
  • Verified news reports and regulatory notices

What We Don't Do

  • We don't publish unverified rumours or unnamed "leaks".
  • We don't give legal or financial advice; we explain options and point to official resources.
  • We don't sensationalise threats; we focus on what's real and what you can do.
